Police Blotter Report:
Michael J. Tweedy, 21, of 35388 Snell Dr., Theresa,
was charged by Watertown police at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at 811
Academy St. with second-degree assault, a felony,
second-degree obstruction of government administration and
two counts of petit larceny. Mr. Tweedy allegedly
assaulted Patrolman Wayne W. McConnell and attempted to
flee at about 6:18 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Academy
Street while officers were investigating a shoplifting
complaint, police said. He is additionally accused of
stealing a package of Hormel pepperoni valued at $3.89
from Great American food store, 672 State St., and at
about 6:00 p.m. and a pair of women's socks and a greeting
card with a total value of $4.99 from Rite Aid, 842 State
St., according to court documents. Mr. Tweedy was
arraigned for town of Watertown Justice David A. Renzi who
sent him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on
$25,000 cash bail.
Mark R. VanAllen, 39, of 418 Arsenal St., Apt. 3,
Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 9:50 p.m.
Monday in the 400 block of Arsenal Street with disorderly
conduct, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of
marijuana. Mr. VanAllen allegedly yelled loudly and waved
his arms in a threatening manner in an attempt to start a
fight with another man, police said. He also allegedly
pulled his arms away from an officers and attempted to
fight him while being arrested, according to court
documents. He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public
Safety Building on $500 police bail pending arraignment
Saturday morning in City Court.
Breanna L. Simpson, 30, of 619 Bronson St.,
Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 3:56 p.m.
Monday in the 300 block of Factory Street with petit
larceny. She is accused of stealing seven items totaling
$17.85 from Dollar General, 146 Arsenal St., at about 3:15
p.m. Monday, police said. She is summoned to appear Jan.
11 in City Court.
Andrew A. Wren, 24, of 324 Academy St., Watertown,
was charged by Watertown police at 4:06 a.m. Monday at 169
Flower Ave. E. with felony driving while intoxicated,
obstruction of government administration, leaving the
scene of a property damage accident, unreasonable speed,
unsafe lane change and unlawfully driving on a sidewalk.
Police said Mr. Wren was traveling west in the 500 block
of Gotham Street at about 3:00 a.m. while approaching a
left hand curve at a speed too fast for conditions causing
the 2004 Nissan sport utility vehicle to slide sideways
with passenger side door striking a tree just northeast of
524 Gotham St. He then left the scene but was later
located at 169 Flower Ave. E., police said. He refused a
breath alcohol test to determine his blood alcohol
content. Mr. Wren also refused to give officers his
personal information despite numerous requests at about
4:30 a.m. at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
He was arraigned and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public
Safety Building with bail set at $4,000 cash. Katherine
J. Navarra, 24, and Laura J. Brady, 23, both of
169 Flower Ave. E., were each charged at 4:06 a.m. Monday
with second-degree obstruction of government
administration after they allegedly prevented officers
from checking the welfare of a person they believed was
inside their residence following a serious motor vehicle
accident by slamming a door on an officer's face while
yelling and being deception about a person who officers
could visually see inside the home, according to court
documents. Both women await prosecution in City
Court.
