Fines for Violations

  WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  The state Department of Health listed the following food service violations and fines for October in documents obtained first by Newzjunky.com.
      
   Bonnie Castle Resort, Outer Holland Street, Alexandria Bay, paid a total of $3,500 in fines, including $100 for cutting boards at the toasters that were deeply scored and grooved, $100 for the hot line drawer units covered with duct tape, $100 for soiled equipment, $50 for wiping cloths in main kitchen bakery area that were not store in sanitizing solution, $100 for floors in main kitchen area that were not maintained, $100 for an exhaust fan in the baking area was not functioning, $50 for protective caps not provided for the light shields in storage area, $50 for a hose submerged in filthy water in mop sink, $50 for ice which was to be used in consumption at the main bar that was not protected from contamination, $100 for floors in wine storage area in poor repair, $100 for ceiling in main bar in poor repair, $50 for shelving in wine storage area not cleanable, $50 for light fixtures in wine storage area were not shatter proof or shielded. 

   Also, a $50 fine for ice at Rum Runner bar that was not protected from contamination, $50 for no thermometer visible at cooling unit at Rum Runner bar, $100 for shelving under cleaning supplies at Rum Runner kitchen that was not constructed to be cleanable, $50 for wiping cloths at Rum Runner kitchen that were not stored in sanitizing solution, $50 for a soiled milk cooler, $50 for a filthy kitchen fan, $100 for no hot water in rest rooms at Rum Runner, $50 for the men's room door at Rum Runner that was not self-closing, $50 for no male/female signs at Rum Runner toilet facilities, $100 for walls near cooking equipment at Rum Runner that were not clean, $50 for flooring under cooking equipment at Rum Runner kitchen was not clean, $50 for light fixtures at Rum Runner not shielded against breakage, $100 for exhaust fans at Rum Runner was heavily soiled and dripping grease, $100 for the cutting board at the Home of the Stars kitchen that was in poor repair and not cleanable, $100 for screening not provided on all open windows, $100 for the flooring at bar #1 at Home of the Stars was not maintained, $100 for ceiling over the window in the kitchen was bare wood construction and not cleanable, $100 for the light in the walk-in cooler was not functional, $200 for exit lights and emergency lighting fixtures at the Rum Runner had been removed and not replaced, and $100 for an emergency light fixture at the indoor pool was not functioning.

   Also, a $100 fine for a ground fault circuit interruptor in the men's room at the indoor swimming pool facility that was not functional, $150 for chlorine residual at the indoor spa pool that was determined to be inadequate, $150 for chlorine feed equipment at both the indoor swimming pool and spa was not functional and employees were hand feeding chemicals directly into the pool, both the pool and spa were ordered to be closed, $50 for a sign at the indoor pool/spa facility did not include the maximum bather capacity, $100 for no shower head in the men's room, $150 for the alarm system for the indoor spa pool that was not functioning and would not provide a warning of excessive spa pool water temperatures, $100 for the swimming pool gate at the outdoor pool was not self-closing, $50 for a sign at the outdoor pool indicating location of safety equipment (spine board) gave the wrong location, and $100 for an emergency light on the outside of the outdoor pool equipment room was not functioning as the breaker was turned off.

   Pine Tree Point Resort, 70 Anthony St., Alexandria Bay, paid a total of $450 in fines, including a $100 fine for free chlorine residual was not being maintained in the swimming pool or spa, $100 for the main drain was not attached securely, $100 for pool gates that were not self-latching, $100 for the spa alarm was not set to activate at the proper temperature and would not shut off at the appropriate temperature setting, and $50 for the spa pool being overfilled above the skimmer so that adequate skimming and recirculation of the spa surface was not being maintained.

   Martin's Marina & Motel-Pier II, 2111 Humphrey Rd., Cape Vincent, paid a $100 fine for a free chlorine residual that was not being maintained in the water distribution system due to the chlorine solution tank being empty.

   P.J.'s Motel & River Rat Cafe, 41867 Route 180, Clayton, paid a $100 fine for approximately 20 salad bowls that were being filled with lettuce by a food preparation handler without the use of sanitary gloves or suitable utensils to eliminate bare hand contact.

   Java Junction, Brockport, Food Court at Moe.Down 2007, 4173 West Road, Turin, paid a $100 fine for no soap available at the hand wash station. The food service worker on duty was unaware of the location of the hand wash station during the inspection.

   Java Junction, Brockport, Camping Area at Moe.Down 2007, 4173 West Road, Turin, paid a total of $400 in fines, including a $100 fine for no soap or paper towels at hand wash station, $100 for a food service worker who player with her hair and a child's hair and continued preparing food without washing her hands, $100 for a food service worker who inadequately washed a dirty blender by rinsing it with a hose and dumping the contents on the ground and then used it to make smoothies, in addition, there were bugs and dust in all three basins of the wash, rinse and sanitize bins intended for manual washing dishes, and $100 for eleven gallons of milk stores in a Pepsi cooler were at 57-degrees Fahrenheit following a power outage at the food booth.

   Chaumont Village Beach, Bayview Drive, Chaumont, paid a total of $250 in fines, including a $100 fine for excessive fecal contamination (from geese) was observed on the sand at the beach and in surrounding areas while patrons (children) were present, $100 for a safety plan was not on file at the beach and the lifeguard was unaware of its content and existence, and $50 for a spine board that was not readily accessible and does not meet sanitary code requirements.
