JCC Announces Finalist
Candidates for Presidency

WATERTOWN, Nov. 21
--  The Presidential Search Advisory Committee for Jefferson Community College has recommended to the Board of Trustees three finalist candidates for the presidency of the College.  It is the unanimous opinion of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee that these finalist candidates most closely fit the leadership needs of Jefferson Community College at this point in its development. 

Following is an alphabetical list and brief bio on each finalist.  The candidates will visit the campus for final interviews the week of November 27, 2006.

Thomas D. Klincar
Candidate Klincar is currently the Commandant of the Community College of the Air Force.  Colonel Klincar’s education-related positions include Dean of Academics at the NATO school and assistant professor of English and Literature at the Air Force Academy.  He holds a BS from Southern Illinois, an MS from the University of Southern California, and a Doctorate of Arts from LaSalle University.  Dr. Klincar will visit the campus on Thursday, November 30.

Carole A. McCoy
Candidate McCoy is currently Vice President of Learner Support Systems at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland.  Her former positions include Director of Research Compliance at Children’s Hospital in Boston and Manager of Technical Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  She has a BA in Economics from Framingham State, an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, and a DPA from the University of Baltimore.  Dr. McCoy will visit the campus on Wednesday, November 29.

Judy I. Murray
Candidate Murray is currently Vice President of Academic and Student Development at Tomball College in Tomball Texas.  She formerly served as Dean of Math, Science, and Career Education at Genesee Community College and Associate Professor at Clark State Community College in Ohio.  She holds a BA in Math from SUNY Potsdam, an MS from Wright State University, and a PhD from The Ohio State University.  Dr. Murray will visit the campus on Tuesday, November 28.

The work of the search committee to fulfill its charge has been outstanding and has successfully concluded. "Each committee member contributed a great deal of time, energy and expertise to the work of the committee," said Steven C. Haas, chair of search advisory committee. "I would like to publicly thank and commend the committee members for their effort. We also express our appreciation to Karen Carr for her significant support."

The search committee was appointed by the Board of Trustees in June of this year.  The board also retained the services of Dr. Robert E. Parilla of Academic Search Consultation Service in Washington, D.C. to assist the College with the search for its next president. More than 50 applications were received over the summer months of which seven semi-finalist candidates were interviewed by the search committee on November 16 and 17.
