Seven Motorists Charged
With Driving Drunk

The following motorists are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

Sarah A. Lange, 33, of 31093 County Route 179, Chaumont, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with aggravated driving while intoxicated. Deputies said her blood alcohol content was 0.37 percent. Aggravated DWI, which carries enhanced penalties, is charged when the level is 0.18 percent or more. Deputies said she lost control of the 2008 Toyota she was operating on County Route 179 while negotiating a right curve, crossed the center line, then struck a guard rail on the right side of the road and slid across the road exiting on the left side and coming to rest on an embankment. She was not injured, according to police documents. She was additionally cited with failure to keep right. She is to answer the charges in Lyme Town Court on Oct. 22.

Marilyn J. Butler, 59, Sackets Harbor, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 12:59 a.m. Sunday on Route 3 in the town of Henderson. Her blood alcohol content was 0.15 percent, deputies said. A level of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. She was additionally cited for speeding 72 mph in a 55-mph zone. She is to appear in Henderson Town Court on Oct. 15.

Robert M. Gates, 46, of 2 Gordon Court, Apt. 95, Alexandria Bay, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies at 7:13 p.m. Sunday on Carlton Drive in the town of Cape Vincent with felony driving while intoxicated. Deputies said the charge is a felony because he has prior conviction for DWI in July 2003 in the town of Theresa. He was additionally cited with refusing a breath screen test and parking in front of a driveway. He is to answer the charges in Cape Vincent Town Court.

John F. Poteralski, 63, of Route 3, Watertown, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right by state police after he allegedly crashed his car along Route 26 in the town of Denmark at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday. His blood alcohol content was 0.16 percent, troopers said. He was held in Lewis County Jail, Lowville, on $500 bail.

Andrew M. Fargo, 25, of 11641 Bishop St., Adams, was charged by state police at 7:25 p.m. Friday in the southbound lane of Interstate 81 near Kellogg Hill with aggravated driving while intoxicated. Troopers said his blood alcohol content was 0.27 percent. He is to answer the charges in Adams Town Court on Oct. 24.

Daniel A. Beckstead, 28, of 20744 County Route 189, Lorraine, was charged by Watertown police at 1:24 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Court Street with aggravated driving while intoxicated. His blood alcohol content was 0.18 percent, police said. He was additionally cited with failing to stop at a flashing red signal light at the American Corner on Public Square, police said. He is to answer the charges in City Court on Oct. 12.

June E. Shaw, 52, of 187 Hager Drive, Pulaski, was stopped by state police for passing through a red light while using a cell phone on Route 11 in the village of Pulaski. Her blood alcohol content was 0.10 percent, troopers said. She was additionally cited with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. She is to appear in Pulaski Village Court on Oct. 10.
