Three Arrested After Burglary
of Alexandria Bay Business


September 30, 2007, 8:00 p.m.

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y.   Three individuals have been arrested as the result of a burglary investigation in Alexandria Bay, according to state police.

On Saturday, Sept. 29, Ken Griswold contacted state police to report that someone had forcibly entered his business, Brass Tacks, 24 James St., overnight and had stolen a safe containing approximately $24,000.

Daniel K. Trainham, 18, and Sean A. Szynkowski, 18, were charged by state police on Sunday with third-degree burglary.

Trainham, whose legal address is 28766 Cottage Hill Rd., Redwood, is currently residing in an apartment located above the business. Szynkowski is currently residing at 39093 Creek Rd., Theresa.

State police recovered $11,581 from Szynkowski at the time of his arrest, troopers said.

Trainham was not in possession of any stolen money, however, state police recovered $9,281 from his grandmother, Jane M. Paul, they said. 

Ms. Paul, 69, of 28766 Cottage Hill Rd., Redwood, was subsequently charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

Trainham and Szynkowski were arraigned in Alexandria Bay Village Court and remanded to Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $1,000 cash bail each. 

Ms. Paul was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Alexandria Bay Village Court on Oct. 10.
