Rose M. Chiodi, 74, Sackets Harbor

SACKETS HARBOR, NY — Rose M. Chiodi, 74 of Sackets Harbor, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 22, at University Hospital, Syracuse, after a brief illness.

Born July 13, 1944, in Watertown the daughter of Angelo and Betty Lewis Caputo, she attended school at Lyme Central and Sackets Harbor Central.

She married Thomas Berkey Sr. in 1962. The marriage ended in divorce.

She married James F. Chiodi on Dec. 18, 1976, in Sackets Harbor.

Rose worked at Bomax as an assembler until she retired.

She was a Life member of both the V.F.W. Post 1400, Auxiliary in Watertown and Harold Townsend Post 1757 American Legion Auxiliary in Sackets Harbor.

Rose enjoyed spending time with family, especially the Sunday morning round table, going to the casino and hanging out at the Legion with her friends taking her chances on pull-tabs.

Surviving are three children, Tina (Jeffrey) Wisner of Sackets Harbor, and their children Melissa and Taylor Wisner, William “B.J.” (Dioney) Chiodi of Sackets Harbor and their children Dominick, Savanah and Nyah Chiodi, Michael (Michelle) Chiodi of Belleville and their children Keirsten and Kaylie Chiodi and the grandsons she raised Thomas and Robert Berkey; her mother, Betty Caputo of Sackets Harbor; brothers and sisters include, Josephine Peters of Dexter, Mary J. Whalen of Chittenango, John (Sharon) Caputo of Oregon, Anthony (Rose) Caputo of Watertown, Diane (Bruce) Mackenzie of Clayton, and Debra Crary of Dexter. She also had many nieces and nephews that she was close to.

She was predeceased by her father, Angelo Caputo; husband, James Chiodi, a son, Thomas Berkey Jr.; brothers-in-law, Ernest (Bob) Peters, Charles Whalen, Mark Crary.

The funeral Mass will be said  11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sackets Harbor with Fr. Martin Cline, the family will be available for calling hours starting at 9:30 at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor.
