Sackets Harbor police arrest three in mobile meth lab traffic stop

SACKETS HARBOR, NY — On Friday, July 20, at about 10:43 p.m., the Sackets Harbor Police department executed a vehicle stop on a blue Dodge caliber in the village.

The vehicle was occupied by Jennifer L. Hester (age 41), Leon H. Dingman (age 27), and Ryan J. Childers (age 35).

Further investigation revealed components and ingredients commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine present in the vehicle, police said. Heroin was also located inside the vehicle, police said.

These items were seized and the three occupants were taken into custody without incident.

Ms. Hester, Mr. Dingman, and Mr. Childers were each charged with one count of Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the third-degree, a class D felony.

Mr. Childers is currently under the supervision of the NYS Division of Parole.

Ms. Hester was additionally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speed in zone and crossing hazard markings.

Mr. Dingman and Mr. Childers were each additionally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal impersonation. Mr. Dingman and Mr. Childers both provided false names to officers, police said.

All three were arraigned in the Adams Town Justice Donald B. Shaw.

Ms. Hester was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building with bail set at $5,000.00 cash.

Mr. Dingman and Mr. Childers were remanded without bail.

The Sackets Police were assisted at the scene by NYSP CCSERT, Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force, NYSP, and the Sackets Harbor Fire Department.
