Sheila J. Muller, 49, formerly of Carthage

CARTHAGE, NY — Sheila J. Muller, 49, formerly of Carthage and New Paltz, NY, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at Hospice of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm, Watertown.

Born Dec. 1, 1969, in Carthage, the daughter of Clifford and Jo Meyer Downey, she graduated in 1987 from Carthage High School, attended the College of St. Rose for a year and graduated from Jefferson Community College with a degree in Individual studies in 2001.

She married Scott Muller on May 29, 1993, in the Town of New Scotland. The marriage ended in divorce.

Sheila was employed with the Riverview Correctional Facility in Ogdensburg as an inventory clerk, with the Watertown Daily Times as an obituary clerk and at Crumb Library at SUNY Potsdam as a library clerk. From December 2015 until currently, she was a circulation manager for the Sojourner Truth Library at SUNY New Paltz.

Sheila was a founding member, a former officer and active member of the Colts Pride Booster Club.

She enjoyed reading, writing, playing card games and word puzzles.

Surviving are her parents, Clifford Downey, Raymondville, NY, her mother, Jo Downey, Selkirk, NY; two sons, Jacob Muller Whitesboro, and Erick Muller, South Colton, three brothers, Adam Downey and his companion, Antoinette Earles, Carthage, Michael Paradise, Ogdensburg, CJ Downey, Raymondville, NY; two sisters, Gina (Gary) Brady, Sumter, SC, and Tracey Racine, Ravina, NY; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A brother, David Paradise, and step mother, Jane Downey, died before her.

A Celebration of Life will be at a time to be announced in January.
