Stanley F. Thomas, Jr., 55, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Stanley F. Thomas, Jr., 55, of Watertown passed away Wednesday evening, July 18, 2018.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Smith presiding. Burial will follow in North Watertown Cemetery.

Born Feb. 27, 1963, in Watertown, a son of Stanley F. and Nancy Beach Thomas, he graduated from Watertown High School.

Stan was a correction officer at the Watertown Correctional Facility and for over 30 years, owned and operated Thomas Painting.

He was a member of Elks Lodge 496, Eagles Aerie 782, and American Legion Post 61.

He enjoyed motorcycling, traveling, listening to music and attending concerts, and working out at the Y. Stan also enjoyed sports and was passionate about the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bull dogs were also his passion. He was very sociable, a smile was on your face whenever you were around him, and he was willing to do anything for his family and his friends.

Stan is survived by his two sons, Corey Wood, N. Myrtle Beach, SC, and Stanley R. Thomas, Buffalo; his father, Stanley F. Thomas, Sr., Watertown; four siblings, Tina (Raymond) Porter, Black River, Cindy Aldrich, Watertown, Vickie (Robert) Parker, Philadelphia, NY, and Joseph Thomas, Lowville; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Stan was predeceased by his mother, Nancy Thomas, in 1995, his companion, Carrie E. Merritt, June 4, 2016, and his nephew, Richard Aldrich II.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations in his name to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 7, E. Syracuse, NY 13057.
