Stanley Majak, 97, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Stanley Majak, 97, Watertown, passed away Friday, May 25, at the Hospice House at the Ellis Farm in Watertown.

Mr. Majak was born in Hartford, CT, a son to Walter and Bertha Majak.  He moved to Utica, NY in his early years with his family.  He graduated from Utica Free Academy where he lettered in basketball and track and field.  After graduating from high school, Stanley worked at Remington Arms Manufacturing until joining the US Army in 1942.  He served in the European and Northern African Theaters during WW II and was honorably discharged in 1945.  Stanley furthered his education, receiving his bachelor’s degree from the Utica College branch of Syracuse University.

Mr. Majak was a teacher in the Business / Business math department at Watertown High School from 1950 until retiring in 1983.

Stanley married Margaret Bull March 19, 1949 at the Rutland Congregational Church.  Mrs. Majak passed away on January 29, 2009.

He was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association and attended the Rutland Congregational Church.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Walter H. and Kristine Majak, Clayton; two grandsons and their wives, Kristopher (Carolynn) Majak, Charlotte, NC, and Dr. Andrew (Felicia) Majak, Watertown; 3 great grandchildren, Carter, Reese and Mirabel. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret, a daughter Elizabeth Ann Majak and a sister Wanda Majak.

There will be no calling hours.  Burial services will be held for the convenience of the family in Maple Hill Cemetery, Town of Rutland.  Arrangements are with the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
