State police identify women injured in Clayton accident

CLAYTON, NY — On Monday, May 14, 2018, at 8:21 a.m., State Police in Alexandria Bay responded to the intersection of State Route 12 and May Irwin Road in the town of Clayton.

The investigation revealed a 2014 Jeep, operated by Michelle Legault, age 47, was traveling north on State Route 12 when she attempted to pass a construction vehicle (Komatsu 250 front end loader) who was turning onto May Irwin Road.  While attempting to pass, she struck the construction vehicle on the passenger’s side and went off the roadway, troopers said.

Legault was transported to Samaritan Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, 47-year-old, Lisa Loomis, was airlifted via Lifenet to SUNY Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

The driver of the construction vehicle was not injured.
