WATERTOWN, NY — Susan M. Ruttan, 65, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Jefferson County on Thursday, Oct. 25, with her family by her side.
The funeral will be held 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Calling hours will be prior to the service from 4-6 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Brownville Cemetery.
Born Dec. 15, 1952, in Lowville, a daughter of Herbert and Maryann Lyndaker Gascho, she graduated in 1970 from Lowville Academy.
Susan worked for over 40 years as a Supply Tech for US Meddac at Fort Drum.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing puzzle books and watching cooking shows. After the passing of her daughter Tammy Jo Ruttan, Susan raised her grandchildren, her family was her greatest joy.
She is survived by her husband Jody, Watertown; a son, Michael Ruttan, Watertown; “adopted” daughter, Betty Jean Maclachlan, Watertown; three grandchildren, Marrissa Ruttan, Alexis Ruttan, Hayley Wood-Ruttan, three great-grandchildren, Sophia Ramos, Nevaeh and Emaleigha Ellsworth. She is also survived by two sisters, Janice Goutermout, Yvonne Lampson, two brothers, Herbert Gascho, Jr., Clair Gascho and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by her daughter, Tammy Jo Ruttan, great-granddaughter, Alessia Ellsworth and her siblings, Richard Gascho, Nancy Gascho and Delores Gascho.
