Theresa Rosiczkowski, 91, Castorland

CASTORLAND – Theresa Rosiczkowski, 91, formerly of Van Amber Road, Castorland, passed away in her sleep on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Elaine Rosiczkowski, Turin.

A funeral Mass will be said 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville, with Rev. Jay Seymour, pastor, officiating. A luncheon at St. Hedwig’s Church fellowship hall will follow the funeral Mass. Spring burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Bremen.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

Born Aug. 2, 1927, at home in Croghan, NY, a daughter of the late Wilfrid and Imelda Proulx, she graduated from Father Leo Memorial School and worked at the Fenton House before her marriage.

On Nov. 8, 1947, she married Leon C. Rosiczkowski at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan with Rev. Hugh Ring officiating. Together with her husband, they owned and operated the dairy farm until their retirement in 1985.

Mrs. Rosiczkowski was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan and St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville.

She enjoyed cooking and making meals, and visiting with her family and friends, playing cards and tending her flower beds, and talking endlessly about growing up in Croghan and attending Father Leo Memorial School.

In her later years she enjoyed watching baseball games and game shows. A favorite pastime was also working in her word search books.

She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who referred to her as Aunt Grandma.

She is survived by her four children, Leon C., Jr. and Eliana Rosiczkowski of San Antonio, TX; Gary P. and Elaine Rosiczkowski of Turin; Joseph W. Rosiczkowski of Canisteo; Vickie Campany of Syracuse; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Janet M. and Dick Mathys of Austin, TX, Betty Ann Leonard of Harrisville, Simone M. Ward of Florida, Patsy M. and Butch Bramhall of Croghan; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Donald “Frenchie” Proulx of Lowville, Wilfrid J. Jr. “Stump” and Kee Proulx of Croghan, Kenneth R. and Joyce Proulx of Beaver Falls; 5grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leon; a brother, Paul E.J. Proulx; and a sister Mary Ann Reed and son-in-law James Anderson.
