DEXTER, NY — Timothy P. Farmer, 64, of Dexter, NY, passed away Tuesday May 29, 2018.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home, Chaumont.
Timothy was born Sept. 28, 1953, in Watertown, a son of Richard Farmer and Marjorie (Mantle) Farmer, and lived on Pillar Point most of his life.
Timothy graduated from General Brown in 1971 where he participated in many activities including football, lacrosse and Key Club. He then attended Jefferson Community College until he enlisted in the United States Army. He served from 1972 to 1974, receiving the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and a National Defense service medal.
After his service he went back to JCC and obtained an associates degree. He then worked on railroad until he started working for NYS Department of Environmental Conservation which he retired from there after 35 years as a conservation operations supervisor 2.
Timothy was a member of the Sons of the American Legion #583 in Dexter.
He also was a coach for the Dexter Lion’s Pop Warner football team for 15 years and an assistant junior varsity lacrosse coach for the General Brown Lions.
He was an active outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing in which he shared his knowledge of both with many people; kids and adults alike. Timothy was a licensed charter captainand owned his own business “Lucky Lund Charters”. He was known by many as a legendary fisherman whose passion for the sport was passed down to his two sons. Tim was also associated with the Galloo Island and all of their operations (hunting, fishing, and transportation). The island was a very special place to him and he spent as much time as he could there.
Being a true American as he was, he loved “America’s Team” the Dallas Cowboys!
His parents, and a brother, Paul Farmer, all died before him.
Timothy is survived by his significant other Hope Kizzer,Dexter, NY; his sons Richard Farmer (Kaitlynn Treadway) Pillar Point, NYand Paul (Etosha) Farmer Dexter, NY; his granddaughters, Quinn and Everly Farmer; several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life 2 p.m. Friday June 8, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Legion in Brownville.
