Troopers respond to nearly 1,100 crashes during winter storm

ALBANY, NY — The New York State Police responded to nearly 1,100 motor vehicle crashes and issued more than 600 travel ban tickets during the snowstorm that affected much of the state last week.

State Police increased patrols in the regions that were highly impacted to handle storm related incidents.

Troopers responded to 1,096 crashes during the storm; 81 of those crashes resulted in injuries, including three fatalities. In addition, Troopers responded to 1,528 disabled or abandoned vehicles.

State Police also issued 601 tickets to drivers of commercial vehicles who violated the travel ban.
