Watertown man accused of assaulting woman during domestic incident, resisting arrest

WATERTOWN, NYGene D. Rivers III, 32, of 177 Mechanic St., upper apt., Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 4:38 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, in the 100 block of Polk Street with second-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree assault and resisting arrest.

Mr. Rivers is accused of punching Virginia E. Johnson, 34, in her face several times causing significant injury to the right side of her face, blocked a doorway and pushed her back into a room several times after she expressed her wishes to leave during a domestic incident at about 4:59 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at 213 S. Meadow St., according to court documents.

Police said he ran from officers after being told he was under arrest at about 4:36 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Polk Street.

He was being held pending arraignment in City Court.
