Watertown man accused of possessing retired deputy’s stolen badge

WATERTOWN, NY — Eric S. Widner, 19, of 502 Academy St., Apt. 1, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 2:25 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, on Breen Avenue with petit larceny.

He is accused of stealing $21.25 worth of quarters from inside a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado belonging to Frank J. Chiumento, 60, of 508 Cross St., at about 1:42 a.m. Sunday, according to court documents.

He was additionally charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Police allege he possessed  a stolen retired Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office badge and identification card belonging to Peter R. Barnett, 55, Watertown, at about 1:50 a.m. in the 200 block of Breen Avenue.

Mr. Widener is summoned to appear Oct. 24 in City Court.
