Watertown man facing charges after domestic incident with girlfriend, police say

WATERTOWN, NYMichael D. Conway, 50, of 594 Meriline Ave., Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 2:36 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at his residence with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.

Mr. Conway is accused of pushing his girlfriend Christine M. Ames, 57, and punching her on her neck during a domestic incident at about 2:00 a.m. Friday at their home, police said.

He is also accused of attempting to prevent Ms. Ames from calling the 911 Dispatch Center to seek police assistance during a physical domestic incident by getting on top of her and striking her while telling her to give him the phone which caused the line with dispatch to disconnect, according to court documents.

He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment Friday morning in City Court.
