Watertown man violated order of protection, choked woman, police say

WATERTOWN, NYJames F. McDaniel, 26, of 209 Creekwood Dr., Apt. 8, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 1:05 p.m. June 12 at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and second-degree harassment.

He is accused of violating the terms of a Jefferson County Court refrain-from order of protection when tackled the protected party, Hannah Gamel, to the ground and applied pressure to her neck with both hands which prevented her from breathing at about 1:30 a.m. May 29 at 2419 Alexandra Meadows, according to court documents.

He was held for arraignment June 12 in City Court, police said.
