Woman ticketed over studded snow tires after being previously warned by police

BLACK RIVER, NYKarianne M. Potter, 31, of Route 12, Watertown, was stopped by Black River / Evans Mills police at about 9 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Route 3 and Huntington Street in the village of Black River for operating a vehicle with studded snow tires.

Police said was previously warned on May 30 that operation with studded snow tires after May 1 is unlawful.

A check of her license showed three suspensions on two dates in Watertown City Court, police said.

She was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and prohibited use of studded tires.

She is summoned to appear Aug. 14 in Rutland Town Court.

The vehicle, Ms. Potter and two juvenile passengers were released to a licensed operator.
