2 teens accused of burglarizing LeRay Street Market

WATERTOWN, NY (News release) — On Oct. 30, on or about 12:30 AM, uniform patrols were detailed to an alarm activation at the LeRay Street Market located at 616 LeRay St. in the city.

Officers responding saw two persons hiding in the nearby trees. When the subjects were ordered to come out, they both fled on foot. The officers were able to stop both subjects after a short chase. Stolen merchandise was found leading from the store to the area where the suspects were first seen. At least one suspect had merchandise on her person. The investigation shows the suspects were able to gain entry via a door at the business. The owner reported less than $175 in merchandise was stolen from the store.

The two suspects were identified as 14 year old female runaways.

Both were brought to the station where they were reunited with family members for the investigation.

Both females have been charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny, and referred to Family Court.
