Update: Fatal accident in Theresa

WATERTOWN, NY —  The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement on Wednesday, March 30, 2022:

“The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash in the town of Theresa.

At approximately 12:20 p.m. today, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a rollover crash on State Route 26 in the Town of Theresa. Upon arrival they found a milk truck overturned in the ditch on the northern shoulder of State Route 26 between State Route 37 and Baker Road. The driver and lone occupant was trapped in the cab and had to be extricated. He was identified as Randall “Bill” Rink, age 49, of Watertown. Mr. Rink suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

A witness was identified and assisted with the investigation. It appears no other vehicles were involved and minor leakage from the tank was contained by fire crews. At this time it is unknown why the truck exited the roadway, and our investigation is continuing.

Those assisting at the scene included the New York State Police, Indian River Ambulance, TIERS Ambulance, Plessis Fire, Theresa Fire, Redwood Fire, the NYS Department of Transportation and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.”
