American Legion worker accused of stealing $591, police say

WATERTOWN, NY —  Michelle A. Deyear, 57, of 26962 Loomis Road, Lorraine, was charged by Watertown police at 4:42 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Deyear is accused of “turning in her cash bag which was short by $591 and she admitted to her employer that she owed that money which she never repaid,” at about 9:35 a.m. March 5 at the American Legion, 138 Sterling St., according to court documents.

She was held for arraignment Tuesday evening in CAP Court in the lobby of the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
