American Red Cross aid eight after Canton fire

WATERTOWN, NY – Volunteers from the Central & Northern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to eight people  after a fire early Monday morning on Dutton Road in Canton, St. Lawrence County. 

The Red Cross provided financial assistance that can be used for necessities such as shelter, food, and clothing to two adults and six children, ages 15, 14, 13, 11, 3, and 18 months.. Volunteers also offered emotional support. One resident is eligible for Veterans’ services. In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire as they navigate the road to recovery.
