American Red Cross aids seven after north country fires

WATERTOWN, NY —  Volunteers from the North Country Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to seven people after weekend fires in two upstate counties.

The Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to one family of two adults Sunday afternoon after a fire on Atwood Road in Chazy, Clinton County. Volunteers also offered health services, emotional support and comfort kits containing personal care items.

On Saturday, volunteers provided assistance to a family of five on Trickey Road in Theresa, Jefferson County. The assistance provided included food, clothing, and lodging, as well as comfort kits and stuffed animals for the children.
