OGDENSBURG, NY — Anne Winifred (Plantz) Kanitz passed away April 22, 2019, at the age of 69 at the Riverledge Nursing Facility in Ogdensburg, N.Y.
Anne, affectionately known as “Sisty” or “Annabanana”, was born on February 12,1950 at the Mercy Hospital in Watertown, N.Y. to Thomas and Patricia (Carr) Plantz. She graduated from Indian River High School in 1968. She then began working for an insurance agency in Watertown, N.Y., later becoming a stay-at-home mom.
Anne married Douglas Jones in November 1968 with whom she had a daughter,Tonya Anne. The marriage ended in a divorce.
She was later married to Roger Roland Kanitz on March 13, 1976. He adopted Tonya, now Boliver of Philadelphia, N.Y., then he and Anne went on to have three more daughters: Kristen Thayer of Ohio, Tennille Price of North Carolina and Katie Kanitz of Ogdensburg, N.Y.
Mrs. Kanitz is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law Greg and Tammy (Wheeler) Plantz of Watertown, N.Y., two cousins who were like sisters, Joanie (Carr) Brown and Lona (Carr) Breitkopf, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, a niece, and nephews.
Anne was predeceased by her husband, Roger, both parents, Tom and Patricia and a granddaughter, Sara Morrow.
Anne very much enjoyed listening to music, as well as playing the violin and flute. She especially loved the holidays, baking cookies and other delicious treats for her family. She enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, gardening, and maintaining and beautifying their yard. Anne will be missed.
There will be no services.
Burial will be on the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa, N.Y
