ARC Jefferson – St. Lawrence cancels Dodge Pond summer camp for 2022 season

WATERTOWN, NY – The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org) is announcing that Dodge Pond Summer Camp for children is cancelled for the 2022 season due to the area’s continued high rate of COVID cases and staffing shortages.

The agency administration is optimistic that they will be able to operate the camp in the summer of 2023.

“It is unfortunate that Summer Camp needs to be cancelled again this year because the children we support benefit so much from the unique outdoor experience that it is specifically designed for people with disabilities at Dodge Pond,” stated Howard Ganter, Chief Executive Officer. “The health and safety of all the people we support is our top priority and the continued high rates of COVID made it difficult to plan accordingly. This issue, compounded with the time it takes to make arrangements for camp and the current staffing shortages have required us to cancel.”

The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence is looking at reestablishing mini-vacations for adults and children later this fall. The agency is also reopening rental opportunities at Dodge Pond beginning this June. Please direct any questions regarding Dodge Pond to Tim Welpe, Chief Strategic Officer at trwelpe@thearcjslc.org or 315-379-9531.

Dodge Pond is supported by Rotary Clubs in St. Lawrence and Jefferson Counties and their ongoing commitment is deeply appreciated. The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence provides lifelong opportunities that enhance the lives of people, so that they may achieve their hopes and aspirations.
