Assemblyman-elect Gray submits letter of resignation to Jefferson County Board of Legislators

Scott A. Gray, Legislator District 13

Jefferson County Board Of Legislators Chairman William Johnson
195 Arsenal Street
Watertown, NY, 13601

Dear Chairman Johnson,

I am submitting my official notification of resignation from the Jefferson County Board Legislators, effective December 31, 2022.

My time serving the residents of Jefferson county has been an absolute pleasure. I hope that I have positively impacted the residents of this community in an attempt to make Jefferson County a better place to work and enjoy life.

I have had the honor and privilege to be elected first in 2001 and every two years since, serving 21 years. Over that time, I have had the opportunity to serve with many community-minded driven individuals on the Board of Legislators that have worked in many ways like; reducing the tax rate from over $10.00 to under $7.00, taking over a regional airport and transitioning it to its current high-quality business that aids our local economy, maintain strong relationships with Fort Drum, worked to reinvest in our tourism economy and so much more.

The most important highlight of the 21 years of service is working alongside many dedicated employees who care about their job and the community they serve. Their service and dedication make our job as legislators easier as we serve the public. Our employees’ service to our constituents is the reason for our success.

Jefferson County residents can be proud of their government and our staff who carry out our day-to-day missions. Our public discourse is of high quality, our policy decisions are well thought out, and our staff executes that public policy daily in our operations. The combination forms a perfect bond of public service that I am proud to have served in.

With that said, it again has been a privilege and honor to serve in Jefferson County government, and I look forward to working for everyone as a member of the New York State Assembly.

Regards,
Scott A. Gray
