Avis Ruth Lyndaker Moser, 92, Lowville

LOWVILLE, NY – Avis Ruth Lyndaker Moser, 92, of Brookside Circle, Lowville, and formerly of William Street, Croghan, died on April 19, 2019, Good Friday.

Mrs. Moser was born May 6, 1926, in the town of Watson, the daughter of John M. and Samanda (Schrag) Lyndaker. Avis graduated from Lowville Free Academy in 1944.

She worked for about four years as a secretary for a local business before being united in marriage with Julius W. Moser on June 16, 1948, at Croghan Conservative Mennonite Church. They have celebrated 70 years together.

Avis and Julius operated his family’s dairy farm on the Erie Canal/ Kirschnerville Road; they were the 4th generation to own the homestead.   She and Julius retired to William Street in Croghan in 1980.

Avis was a member of the Croghan Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday School and Summer Bible School for many years.  She was a faithful supporter in Julius’ ministry.

She is survived by her husband Julius, a sister-in-law, Margie Lyndaker, her cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

Avis was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Ralph M. Lyndaker.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Apil 22, at Croghan Mennonite Church with calling hours beginning at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Bruce Roggie, Chad Atwood, Chris Roggie, and Paul Mast, pastors.
