Berdella M. “Della” Affinati, 88, Adams

ADAMS, NY — Berdella M. “Della” Affinati, 88, widow of the late John Affinati, died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter Deborah Shaw, Adams, where she had been under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.  There will be a private graveside service in the spring in Glenwood Cemetery, Watertown.  There are no public services.

Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home Inc., Adams.

Della was born April 25, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of Joseph H. and Leta (Bissontz) Burch.  She was a 1948 graduate of Philadelphia High School for Girls, and later attended Jefferson Community College, Watertown.  She worked at Ray’s Jewelers in Watertown, and the House of the Good Samaritan and Samaritan Keep Home as the Credit Union Manager.

A first marriage ended in divorce.  She later married John Affinati of Lacona, where the couple lived all of their married life.  Mr Affinati died September 1, 2000.

She is survived by a son David Card, Adams; five daughters Terry (Bill) Freeman, San Antonio, TX, Linda (James) Harris, Canton, GA, Deborah (Frank) Shaw, Adams, Cynthia (Philip) Maitland, Adams Yvonne Rudd, Adams; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, nieces and nephews, cousins; and a brother Clifford Kepner, Mays Landing, NJ.

She is predeceased by a grandson Branche Vautrin who died May 1998, a sister Joanne Necowitz, and her longtime companion Elmer “Edsel” Perry, who died December 2018.
