WATERTOWN, NY — An unmarked U.S. Border Patrol vehicle was rear-ended early Thursday morning by a passenger car on Factory Street, resulting in minor injuries but no hospitalizations.
The collision occurred just before 6 a.m. Thursday, July 16.
According to Watertown Police Sgt. Amanda L. Gauthier, an eastbound Chevrolet Malibu LT struck the back of the parked Border Patrol Chevrolet Blazer outside of 246 Factory St.
The Border Patrol agent inside the unmarked vehicle appeared to have pain in his left arm following the impact. Personnel from Guilfoyle Ambulance responded to the crash and evaluated the agent at the scene, along with the driver and an occupant of the Chevrolet Malibu. None of the three individuals involved required transport to a local hospital.
The Watertown Police Department is actively investigating the cause of the crash. City firefighters also responded to the scene to provide assistance and secure the area.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision or whether any citations will be issued.
