Burton A. Lunderman, 86, Black River

BLACK RIVER, NY — Burton A. Lunderman, 86, of Ball Road, Black River, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Bruce Funeral Home 131 Maple St., Black River.

The Black River Masonic Lodge will have a service beginning at 1 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home with Rev. Paul Luisi, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial with military honors will be held in Felts Mills Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow the burial at the Black River Masonic Lodge, 123 LeRay St., Black River.

Burton was born on January 12, 1932 in Felts Mills, NY, son of Marshall and Hazel (McCarthy) Lunderman. He attended Carthage Central School and following school he entered the US Air Force on Sept. 14, 1950 and was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class on Sept. 12,1953.

Upon returning home in 1953 he went to work for St. Regis Paper Co., where he worked as a machine tender for 40 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Black River Masonic Lodge #821, Order of the Eastern Stars, Concordia Lutheran Church and a former member of the Felts Mills American Legion,.

He married Irene Pinder on April 17, 1955, at the Church of Christ in Felts Mills. The couple resided in Felts Mills for over 40 years. Mrs. Lunderman is a homemaker.

Among his survivors are his loving wife, Irene Lunderman; three sons, Gene B. Lunderman and his husband Leni Santos, MA, Michael A. Lunderman, Dudley, NC, Charles Lunderman, Marcy, NY; a daughter and son in law, Cheryl I. and Scott Bogart, Milfort, ME; two grandchildren, John and Cheri; four great grandchildren, Kora, Daisy, Logan and Liam; a brother and sister in law, James and Velma Lunderman, Carthage; a sister, Cyrena Gerber, Natural Bridge, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Lunderman and five sisters, Neica McCoy, Lucille McCue, Keitha Youngs, Norma Borland, and Anna Rounds.
