WATERTOWN, NY — The funeral service for Carl R. Bidwell Jr. will be 2:00pm Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m..
Carl passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Samaritan Medical Center at the age of 84.
Carl was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Watertown, a son to Carl Bidwell Sr. and Harriett Bidwell. He grew up in the Cape Vincent area where he attended school locally.
Carl worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, including working on local farms, washing dishes at the Best Western, and delivering newspapers for the Watertown Daily Times, until he retired in the early 2000s.
Carl and Mary Jane were married on May 27, 1970, and just celebrated their 52nd anniversary together before his passing.
Carl had a great love for animals, especially Bandit who unfortunately passed away in January of 2019. He also enjoyed going for car rides around the North Country and solving crossword and word search puzzles. Most of all, Carl loved to be surrounded by his friends and family, whom he loved dearly.
Carl Bidwell is survived by his wife Mary Jane; his children, Carl (Dorothy) Bidwell, Mary (Shaun) Brice, Anna Bidwell, and Candy Bidwell; and his sister Jeanette. Carl is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Carl was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
