Charles H. Clark, 84, Adams

ADAMS, NY — Charles H. Clark, 84, formerly of Church Street, Adams, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, at the Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, where he has resided for the past 4 years.

The funeral will be held 10 am Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Adams Village Baptist Church with Rev. Bud Masters officiating.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Baptist church.

Arrangements are with the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.

Charles is survived by numerous cousins and friends.

He was born in Henderson, Oct. 27, 1933, a son to George Washington Clark IV and Ruth Sarah Flint Clark. Charles was the great grandson of George W. Clark, who was one of the original settlers of Henderson. He was educated in Henderson and Belleville schools, and graduated from Adams High School in 1955. Charles graduated from Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston, MA in 1956.

Charles worked in the floral design field for A.R. Thompson and Hillside Gardens in Adams, Chapin’s Florist in Watertown for 20 years and Duflo’s Florist in Adams for 18 years for a total of 47 years in floral design. Following his retirement, he served as the custodian at the Adams Village Baptist Church for several years with great pride, retiring due to ill health.

Charles was member of the Adams Village Baptist Church for 72 years, serving on all affiliated boards over the years. He served on the board of the Elmwood Cemetery Association, the South Jefferson Historical Society and Henderson Historical Society for many years.
