Charles M. Ayen, 60, Theresa

THERESA, NY —  Charles M. Ayen, 60, of County Route 46, Theresa, died Wednesday evening, August 7, 2019, at his home, while under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Born Dec. 15, 1958, in Watertown, NY, a son of Frederick Ayen, Sr. and Doris Salisbury Ayen, he graduated in 1977 from Indian River Central School.

Charles married Evelyn J. Rogozienski on February 23, 1980, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Watertown, NY.

He was a truck driver for 36 years, most recently he worked for Avaigen Hatchery, Watertown, NY (formerly known as Morris Hatchery), also driving for Champion Materials, Carthage, NY and Drum Ready Mix. Charles was a farm owner and for a time, a crane operator at Black Clawson, Watertown, NY.

The most important things in his life were his family and grandkids.

He also was an avid motorcycle reconstructor, enjoyed farming and going to the casino to play craps.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Shannon and Bruce Shawcross, Evans Mills, NY, Chrissy and Christopher Newman, Warners, NY; a son and his companion, CJ Ayen and Samantha Wilber, Palm Bay, FL; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Cecelia and Victor Willix, and Cathy Dickhaut, all of Alexandria Bay, NY; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Lori Ayen, Middletown, OH; his dog, DJ; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His parents, two brothers, Frederick Ayen, Jr., and Stephen Ayen, and a granddaughter, Breonna Shawcross, all died previously.

Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY.

There will be a Celebration of Life 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at the Theresa Fire Hall.
