Christina C. Thoma, 92, Castorland

CASTORLAND, NY — Christina C. Thoma, 92, of Main Street, Castorland, passed away Friday afternoon, June 7, 2019, at Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse.

A funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville with Rev. Mr. Ronald J. Pominville officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Bremen. A calling hour will be held 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2019, prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home.  .

Born Dec. 26, 1926, to the late Henry and Frances (Becker) Bush, she graduated from Lowville Academy in 1945. She worked at Tree Nursery in Dadville.

She was a former communicant of St. Ann’s in Castorland.

She was a communicant of St. Peter’s and St. Stephen’s Church.

She raised her family and also did domestic work. She worked at Castorland Elementary as a cook, and then went to work at Lowville Academy as a cook.

Christina enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Linda E. Noftsier of Croghan; F. James and Bonnie Easton of Lyons Falls, John D. Easton of Liverpool, Catherine M. Easton of Castorland; her siblings, Clement and Wilma Bush of Lowville; Bernard and Barbara Bush of Lowville; Clara and Jack Matulewicz of Lowville, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Thoma, her daughter-in-law, Jeannie Easton; three sisters, Margaret Tabolt, Marie Walters and Theresa (Maurice) Birchenough; two brothers, Robert (Beverly) Bush, Lawrence (Wanda) Bush.
