City firefighters extinguish fire under William Street apartment house porch

WATERTOWN, NY —  City firefighters encountered smoke and flames coming from under a porch at 121 William St. when they answered the 6:06 a.m. Sunday alarm.

Engine 2 was first to arrive on scene and used a fire extinguisher to quell flames on vinyl siding, according to Battalion Chief Timothy P. “Tucker” Wiley.

No one was injured in the fire. The cause of the fire was undetermined.

The fire was reported by a passing motorist.
