City of Watertown to receive $3.1 via federal stimulus package

WATERTOWN, NY — Watertown City Council is pleased to share the City will receive more than $3 million in federal funds as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which was signed into law last week.

Included in the funding is $3.1 million to enhance local transportation and $541,000, which will benefit the Community Development Block Grant Program. In recent years, CDBG funds have benefited the Watertown City School District Backpack Program, provided homeless assistance, enhanced handicapped accessibility, improved rental and owner-occupied housing and more.

As a Council, we would like to thank our federal representatives for advocating for our City and delivering these much-needed funds. We look forward to utilizing them in a way that does the most good for the people of the City of Watertown.
