Clark elected vice chair of the NYS Democratic Committee

News release

ALBANY, NY —  St. Lawrence County Democratic Committee leader, Jason Clark, was elected to serve as a Vice Chair of the New York State Democratic Committee at its organizational meeting that was held on Thursday, September 22 in Albany. Mr. Clark’s term will last through 2024.

Mr. Clark has served as a member of the New York State Democratic Committee since 2012. During that time, he has also been elected to serve as a member of the Executive Committee and was appointed to serve as Chair of the Resolutions Committee in 2020 by State Party Chairman, Jay Jacobs. He was reappointed to that role on September 22. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Democratic Rural Conference of New York State and was elected to serve as the organization’s Secretary from 2015-2017.

With more than thirty years in politics, he has held a multitude of roles with the St. Lawrence County Democratic Committee including First Vice Chair and Chair of the Committee’s campaign arm, the Committee to Elect. During his tenure in that role, the County Democratic Committee won roughly 85% of the races in which the Committee to Elect was involved.

Mr. Clark has also served as the Chair of the Norfolk Town Democratic Committee since September 2012. This November’s election will feature one of the first contested races in Norfolk in nearly a decade and Mr. Clark has spent a great deal of time working to elect Norfolk Town Justice Jill Briet to serve her first full term. Mr. Clark says of Justice Briet, “Jill has a brilliant mind and has overperformed expectations as the Norfolk Town Justice working alongside highly regarded Town Justice, George Grubee, since her appointment in April. She has spent countless hours researching the docket and has sought counsel and advice from several experts in her field. We are fortunate to have Jill as a Town Justice in Norfolk. She deserves your vote on November 8th .”

St. Lawrence County Democratic Committee Chair, Mark Bellardini, was ecstatic after hearing the news of Mr. Clark’s election. “Jason is one of the hardest working Democrats in the North Country and has been for decades. With his election as a Vice Chair of the State Party, he joins elite company as being one of the few North Country Democrats to achieve that position of leadership. He is now the highest-ranking St. Lawrence County Democrat to serve the State Party since June O’Neil served as the State Party Chair several years ago.”

Mr. Clark is humbled by the win. He said, “It is an honor to serve alongside so many dedicated leaders for the purpose of electing Democrats throughout New York State. Jay Jacobs has been an exemplary Chair of the State Committee and I am proud to continue serving with him in an expanded role. In the coming weeks, we must ensure victory for our exceptional Governor, Kathy Hochul, and send Elise Stefanik back to the rock that she crawled out from under. There is no room for her kind of fascism here in America.”
