Clarkson University students can request COVID-19 test before Thanksgiving break

POTSDAM, NY —  Clarkson University students can request a COVID-19 test before they head home for Thanksgiving.

All students will be given the option to receive a COVID-19 test before they depart campus on November 24. The tests are being offered by Clarkson as a way to prevent the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus to other parts of the country.

Students need to fill out the testing request form by Wednesday, November 4.

“As of today, we have no students in isolation and no active known cases of COVID-19 among our faculty, staff or students. Out of 6500+ random tests administered on campus since the semester began in August, we have only seen six positive cases and all have recovered,” said Brian Grant, Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs.

The tests are available to all students who are taking at least one class on campus or working on campus.

When students return to campus in January for the spring semester, Clarkson is once again requiring all students to submit a negative result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test prior to arrival on campus. Students will be tested again when they return and surveillance testing will continue throughout the semester.

Students from NYS travel advisory states will be arriving shortly after the New Year to begin their required quarantine.  The spring semester will begin remotely on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, for all students. We will resume in-person classes beginning on Monday, January 18, 2021. Students and families will be receiving more detailed communications in the coming weeks regarding health and safety protocols, including testing requirements for the spring semester.
