WATERTOWN, NY — Since the outbreak of COVID-19 coronavirus across New York State, multiple businesses, schools and events have cancelled or postponed.

Coronavirus Testing Site Now Operational in Watertown




  • All non-essential functions of the courts in Jefferson County have been postponed until further notice. All State Courts including Watertown City Court have been centralized in the Jefferson County Court Complex at 163 Arsenal Street. You may call (315) 671-4699 if you have any ESSENTIAL matters with the Courts.

  • Please be aware that due to the current health crisis that we are facing with COVID-19 and based upon the State and Federal guidelines and Executive Orders surround social distancing, the Lewis County District Attorney’s Office will be rescheduling the May 2, 2020, required Victim Impact Panel. All defendants who were required to take the Victim Impact Panel on May 2, 2020, will now be rescheduled to attend the Nov. 7, 2020 Victim Impact Panel at the Lowville Academy and Central School location which is the next scheduled VIP date.   • The Watertown Police Department Records Department window at the Public Safety Building has been closed until further notice. Members of the public may still request records via email at PoliceRecords@watertown-ny.gov. There may be delays in the processing of records requests due to records office employees working from home, where they do not have access to all department records.

  • The Development Authority of the North Country provides essential services to communities and businesses across the North Country in terms of water and wastewater treatment plan operation, operation of the regional landfill, and telecommunications. Those services will continue as usual, but the Authority has implemented some measures for the protection of its staff and customers. Until further notice, Development Authority staff will not be attending meetings or filling any new service orders unless they are emergency-related. Visitors will not be permitted at any Authority facilities and are urged to conduct their business by phone or electronically for now. Extra cleaning and sanitation efforts are taking place at all Authority locations for the protection of employees. In addition to the essential service providers, all divisions of the Development Authority are working, although some staff are working from different locations to maximize social distancing.   • The Town of Watertown offices will be closed until further notice.  All correspondence can be mailed or put in the secure drop off box in the front of the Town Municipal Building.

  • North Country Family Health Center (NCFHC) has temporarily closed its
    LeRay Family Dental & WIC Offices at 26908 Independence Way, Evans Mills, New York, effective Friday, April 3, 2020 given the COVID-19 pandemic. This temporary closure of the LeRay Offices will not interrupt services as LeRay dental patients and LeRay WIC clients will be served by NCFHC’s Watertown location. The LeRay offices are located off Route 11, just outside the Fort Drum main entrance. The offices are expected to re-open on Monday, May 4, 2020. NCFHC’s Watertown and Lowville dental offices will remain open. Patients who are experiencing a dental emergency should call us first before coming into either our main community health center at 238 Arsenal Street, Watertown, 315.782.9450, or our Lowville site at 7785 North State Street, Lowville, 315.376.4500 (located within the Lewis County General Hospital.) The Watertown dental office is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and the Lowville office is open Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and closed on Fridays. Patients may visit NCFHC’s Facebook page for more information on what constitutes a dental emergency. In addition, WIC clients who normally utilize the LeRay WIC Office will continue to be served via telephone. This temporary closure of the LeRay WIC Office will not impact any participants’ benefits.

  • Hospice of Jefferson County continues to care for our patients at home and in our Residence during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, we ask that families and friends work with us by following our new visitor restrictions to help keep everyone healthy and safe. Residence Visitor Restrictions: Until further notice, all visitors to the Residence are restricted to immediate family only. No more than two (2) visitors per patient at a time will be allowed into the Residence. Please do not enter if you have any signs of fever, cough or any respiratory infection. All visitors will be asked to sign the visitor log at the reception desk upon entering (date and time included.) Also, each visitor will be asked to complete a screening form and submit the form to the nurses’ station. No exceptions. Homecare Patients: To ensure the safety and well-being of our homecare patients and their families, please call the family before visiting and do not visit if you have any signs of fever, cough or any respiratory infection.
