Croghan man charged with aggravated DWI, leaving scene of accident in Lowville

LOWVILLE, NY —  Nicholas L. Augustyn-Jones, 32, Croghan, was charged by Lowville police at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, with aggravated driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and unsafe lane change following an accident on Shady Avenue.

His blood alcohol content 0.20 percent, police said. A BAC of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Aggravated DWI, which carries harsher penalties upon conviction, is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or greater.

He is summoned to appear in Lowville Village Court at a later date.
