Crow hazing season returns

WATERTOWN, NY  —  The City of Watertown strongly encourages all its citizens to report crow sightings to Loomacres Wildlife Management at www.airportwildlife.com/crows.html. If you have recently seen crows roosting in your neighborhood, particularly at dusk or the early evening hours please share this information, as your reports will help disburse the nuisance crow flocks.

Please note that you do not need to fill out every field in the reporting form to submit your report; only those fields marked as required by a red asterisk. If you do not know some of the particular data points requested, such as GPS coordinates or wind, please feel free to leave those fields blank.

Loomacres will conduct its first effort of the season to haze nuisance crow flocks within the City during the evening hours of Wednesday, October 25, 2023, so reports over the next 48 hours will greatly assist those efforts. Reports are particularly valuable prior to the first harassment night of the season as Loomacres will attempt to locate where crows are staging in the late afternoon hours prior to entering the City to roost overnight.

The harassment methods used to disperse crows include pyrotechnics, lasers, air rifles and other devices. Several of these methods produce loud noises and flashing lights (similar to sirens and fireworks) that will frighten the birds and may be heard or observed by local residents. We apologize in advance for any disturbance due to the noise and light.
