WATERTOWN, NY — Curtis A. Mahon, 75, Watertown, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at his home with his family at his side under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.
Calling hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with a prayer service to follow at 6 pm. Burial with military honors will be held at a later date in Dexter Cemetery. Â A Celebration of Life gathering will be at the VFW on Bellew Ave., Watertown following the service on Friday.
Curtis is survived by his wife Marianne; three daughters Marietta Mahon, Melissa Parker, and Amanda Helmer; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Nancy Colligan, Gerald and Bruce Mahon, Donna Brown, Lori Funk, and Terry Mahon; many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Watertown, June 28, 1948, a son to Leroy and Phyllis Heise Mahon.
Following his graduation from high school, he enlisted with the US Army in April of 1968.  During his service, Curtis served two tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in April of 1971. He returned to Vietnam where he worked as a civilian contractor for a few years. He later went on to further his education, receiving a bachelor’s degree through the Penn State University system.
Curtis went to work for the City of Watertown in the Department pf Public Works as a mechanic, retiring after 30 years of employment.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the American Legion Post in Lewisburg, PA.
