David E. Compeau, 76, Glen Park

GLEN PARK, NY — David E. Compeau, 76, Glen Park, passed away at his home Wednesday evening, March 20, with his family by his side.

David was born June 27, 1942, in Watertown, the son of Earl and Irene Burrows Compeau, he graduated from General Brown Central High School.

He served in the US Navy from 1960 to 1964 and then served in the Naval Reserve until 1966.

He married Barbara J. Getman on Aug. 21, 1965, at the Brownville United Methodist Church.

David worked as a truck-driver and safety officer at Seaway Motor Express, SMX Trucking and was co-owner of 3 Knights Enterprises. After retirement he worked in sales at Gander Mountain.

Dave was very active in the Dexter United Methodist Church, was a Lay-Leader, helped start the Town ofBrownville Food Pantry, also was a life-time member and past Fire Chief and officer of the Glen Park Fire Dept. and was instrumental in designing and building the current Glen Park Fire Station. He was also a member of Dexter American Legion and former member of the Masons.

He is survived by his wife Barbara and two daughters: Renee Kolb of Glen Park and Robin and Matt Brouty of Brownville; grandchildren include Derrick and Chelsea Kolb, Corrine Brouty, Kendall Kolb, Amanda Brouty and her fiancé Matt Julian; a brother, Gary Compeau of Vermont also survives.

He was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Susan Douglas and Linda Tapke.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Dexter United Methodist Church with Rev. Sally Buyea officiating. His body will be cremated.
