WADDINGTON, NY — Donald Lutke, 69, passed away at his residence on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.
Arrangements are under the care and Guidance of the Phillips Memorial Home, 28 Clinton St., Waddington, NY.
Born Aug. 31, 1954, in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of Richard D. Lutke and Louise (Jackquemard) Saunders.
Don was a 1972 graduate of Madrid-Waddington HS and a 1976 graduate of Colorado School of Mines where he received a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
He worked for Okmar Oil Company for several years. Later in life he worked as cook in several north country establishments.
Don is survived by his companion, Susan Ashley of Waddington, NY; his mother and father, Louise and John Saunders; a son, Ethan Lutke; two brothers and two sisters, David (Becky) Lutke, Jim and Kelly Saunders, Terri and Don Nims and Margaret Saunders and Todd Long; three grandchildren, Adrian, Ruthie and Mikey, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and his faithful dog Sadie.
He was predeceased by his father Richard D. Lutke, paternal and maternal grandparents.
The family would like to acknowledge special devoted friends: Pete and Melissa Thomas, Joe and Kerri Fieldson, Ann Ruddy and Patty Van Patten.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Colton, NY.
