Doris E. Dittrich, 91, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Doris E. Dittrich, 91, widow of William Dittrich, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at the Samaritan Keep Home.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brownville with Rev. Michael Gaffney officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial will follow the memorial service in the Evans Mills Cemetery.

Born Aug. 21, 1927, in Watertown, a daughter to Edward and Doris (Farrell) Bennett, she was educated locally and graduated from Watertown’s Mercy School of Nursing.

Mrs. Dittrich was the nursing supervisor at the Madonna Home for many years.

Doris was one of the area’s first Registered Nurses to receive a Nurse Clinician Diploma at Community General Hospital in Syracuse under the direction of Dr. Collins Kellogg.

On Nov. 27, 1948, she married William Dittrich. Mr. Dittrich passed away in January of 2001.

She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia (Roscoe) Eisenhauer of Brownville, their children Lisa, Heather, Jordan, Tyler; Diane (Thomas) Sullivan of Watertown and their children Marc, Sheri, Kelly, Brenda Dittrich of Alabama and her children Charles; her brother: Bruce Bennett of Brownville. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, William, she is predeceased by two brothers: Richard and Roy Bennett.
