Douglas J. Camidge, 66, Carthage

CARTHAGE, NY — Douglas J. Camidge, 66, of 38766 State Route 3, Carthage, died Tuesday evening, June 4, 2019, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

Born Oct. 5, 1952, in Carthage, the son of the late Cleon W. and Irene M. (Adner) Camidge, he attended school in Carthage and Beaver River.

He married Cathy M. Lago on June 8, 1971, in Carthage. Cathy, a longtime employee of Carthage Area Hospital died on Oct. 24, 2007.

Doug was employed by Climax MFG in West Carthage for over 35 years,
retiring due to his health.

Doug was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Program in Lewis County for many years.

He enjoyed playing poker, golfing, hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Tim (Tanya) Travis of Carthage and Crystal Arnold of Florida; a son and his wife, James and Kelly Camidge of Herrings; seven grandchildren, Kelsey, Dawson and Dylan Camidge, Jayden and Alyssa Arnold and Tia and Timothy Travis; three sisters, Julia Kloster of Belfort, Cora Kloster of Croghan and Colleen Jass of Alden, Iowa; two brothers, Dennis Camidge of Tylerville and Brian Camidge of Ashland, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Camidge and three sisters, Trudy Marriott, Cora Kloster and Elaine Camidge who died in infancy.

There will be a Celebration of Life held 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the American Legion in Carthage. There will be no calling hours.
