Drug Task Force: $100,000 worth of cocaine seized in Hounsfield vehicle stop

WATERTOWN, NY —  The Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force released the following statement on Friday, Sept. 17:

“On 09/17/21, at about 11:45 am, members of the Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force conducted a drug investigation in the Town of Hounsfield. A vehicle, occupied by two males, was stopped and the rear seat passenger, Orlando J. Harris (age 29) from New York City, was detained.

A search warrant for Mr. Harris and his belongings was obtained and executed. Mr. Harris was found to be in possession of 1,015 grams of cocaine (1 kilo), which has an estimated street value of approximately $100,000, and $360 in US currency.

As a result, Mr. Harris was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the first degree (class A-1 felony) and is being held pending arraignment.

The Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force was assisted by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Watertown Police road patrol and ID unit, the Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Border Patrol. This is an on-going investigation. Additional charges and arrests are pending.”
