CARTHAGE, NY — Emerson J. Camidge, 83, of the Boyd Road, Carthage, died Wednesday afternoon, May 29, 2019, at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.
Born Nov. 9, 1935, in Carthage, the son of the late Nelson J. and Eloise H. (Christman) Camidge, he attended Carthage High School.
He married the former Marion E. Chisamore on July 13, 1957, in Carthage. Marion died on Nov. 4, 2002.
For many years he was employed as a millwright at Climax MFG in West Carthage, retiring several years ago.
He loved woodworking, camping, hunting and fishing, yard sales and was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Kimily and Robert Cummings and Sharon and Glenn Delles Jr. all of Carthage, David and Michel Camidge of Baldwinsville and Larry Camidge of Watertown; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with one expecting in October; two brothers, Gene Camidge of Carthage and Nelson Camidge of Virginia; his special niece and caregiver, Rachel Gorumba of Carthage and many other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Donald, William, Quentin and Cleon (Charlie) Camidge and five sisters, Alice Hunkins, Rachael Gayne, Helen Chisamore, Vivian Zeller and Eva Brezzie.
Calling hours will be noon to 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the Beza.nilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m with Rev. Jack Bushey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage, with a Celebration of Life immediately following the burial at the Carthage American Legion.
